We are a 5* food-hygiene rated home-baking business, based in Cambridgeshire - ran by a Mother & Daughter duo, Ganene & Danielle.

We can be found weekly on a Thursday at Peterborough on Cathedral Square & Chatteris Market on a Friday.  

In February 2023, I took the leap and quit my 9-5, to take The Cakery full-time. It has been a scary & exciting few months! I have poured my heart & soul into the business ever since, and have worked some crazy hours to boot - but when I have a 15 person queue on a Friday morning at Chatteris - it makes it all worth it!! We have had some bumpy times, including time off to recover from on op, but with help from friends and family, we have muddled through! 

We are also excited to announced that our savouries will be stocked at Frankham’s farm shop & deli, opening on Saturday 22nd October in Wisbech St Mary.

Also, a huge thank you to all of our customers, supporters and regulars, it means the world to us and you are what keeps us ticking over!

We have always been ‘foodies’ - both going out to eat and cooking for every family Christmas or event.  We had toyed for months about setting up our own baking business, and in the summer of 2021 we unfortunately lost our Mum & Nan, Jean. We held Jean’s wake at the local community hall, and did all of the catering ourselves. As the day went on, more and more people asked us who did the catering - and they were (pleasantly!!) surprised when we said we had done it all ourselves. 

Reflecting back, that was the pivotal moment which gave us the nudge we needed, and after more months of planning and a kitchen renovation at Nenes, The Village Cakery was born!

We began taking orders in November 2021, and have had a really successful run so far in our local community, and so we are now expanding to offer postal brownies, blondies and stuffed cookies (as well as some other goodies!), and collection orders.

Our long-term goal would be to expand further, to allow us to have a professional kitchen rather than just our home one, and every order we receive is a step towards this, so thank you.
