Food has always been at the heart of our family. We’ve long been self-confessed foodies — whether that’s dining out or cooking for every family Christmas and celebration (including one slightly bonkers year when we served a 15-course Christmas meal!).

For months, we talked about turning our love of baking into a business. Then, in the summer of 2021, we sadly lost our Mum and Nan, Jean. We held Jean’s wake at the local community hall and catered the entire event ourselves. As the day unfolded, more and more people asked who had provided the food — and were genuinely surprised when we told them it was us.

Looking back, that moment became the turning point. It gave us the nudge we needed to take the leap. After months of planning and a full kitchen renovation at Nene’s, The Village Cakery was born.

We began taking orders in November 2021 and have been proudly serving our local community ever since. With countless markets and events under our belts, we soon expanded into catering — offering wedding catering, hot and cold food, afternoon teas, dessert tables, and more.

We are a truly family-focused business. The Village Cakery is run by a mother (Nene) and daughter (Danielle) duo, with the invaluable support of our wider family and friends — all sharing the same passion for great food made with love.
